I recently took redundancy after a successful career as a Senior HR Professional. After a bit of soul searching I decided to follow my passion for make-up and after looking at a number of courses on the internet, I came across The Cheshire Make-up Academy. I was looking for a school that would provide me with a high level of technical expertise mixed with commercial business sense, that was condensed over a short period and was based in the North at a competitive price.

I visited the school and met Kim, the owner. Her personality and approach to aftercare won me over and I immediately booked the bridal make-up, the fashion/editorial make-up (1 week)  and the 5 day session stylist (hair) courses on my return home.

The training delivered by the school is of a very high standard. All the tutors are working in the industry so their skills and experiences are current. I felt ready to get stuck in as soon as I had completed my training as I knew I had the support of Kim and the team should I ever need them.

Richard Harvey, my tutor, agreed to let me assist on a job soon after completing my training so within days I was actually on set in a real live situation! Since then I've gone from strength to strength.

I have worked on shoots for Baracuta Menswear and James Steward Couture, I have provided the make-up and concepts for 3 different fashion shows with some of my work being published in the Yorkshire Post and Jam Magazine. My first photo shoot was with Andrew Farrington who has shot celebrities such as Helena Bonham-Carter.

I have assisted Richard on a number of shoots for Buzz Magazine, The Mirror on Saturday and the TV Times featuring some of the Emmerdale cast, Oli (Freemeans) catalogue and Glitzy Secrets jewellery website - my work from this shoot has been featured in Perfect Wedding magazine.

Finally, I have become the preferred make-up and hair partner for Malmaison Leeds and have just completed my first underwater fashion shoot!

It's been a busy 7 months, it was the best decision I ever made and I wouldn't be where I am today without the ongoing support and friendship of Kim and Richard.

A bespoke service for individuals or small groups who would like to know how to apply beautiful make-up to themselves. Learn from a professional media make-up artist who will take you through your skin type, which foundation to use, eyeshadow application, cheeks, eyebrows, lips and which colours would suit you. We will even go through your make-up bag (if you wish) and sort out which products should stay and which should go.

After this lesson you will know which products and colours suit you and how to apply a polished day time and evening make-up look.

The cost is £55 per person and the lesson will usually be 2 hours duration.
